FAQs

1. What is calamine and why is it in a face serum?

Calamine is a zinc-based mineral compound that has been used for over a century to treat skin irritation, redness, and itching. In skincare, it works as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic that calms overactive sebaceous glands, absorbs excess oil, and soothes reactive skin. At 4%, it's concentrated enough for daily use in a leave-on serum format.

2. Is this suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. It's specifically formulated for sensitive and reactive skin types. The formula is free from fragrance, essential oils, and harsh actives. Allantoin supports gentle healing, and Betaine provides soft hydration, both chosen for compatibility with sensitised skin.

3. Can I use this with other serums?

Yes. Calamine pairs well with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and probiotic serums. Avoid layering directly with strong exfoliating acids like AHA or BHA on the same application. On exfoliation nights, use those separately and follow up with this serum the next morning.

4. Is this only for oily or acne-prone skin?

While it works particularly well for oily and acne-prone skin, it's suitable for all skin types. Dry or combination skin that occasionally experiences redness, irritation, or sensitivity will also benefit from the calming and hydrating properties of this formula.

5. How quickly does calamine work on redness and irritation?

Most users notice a calming effect within the first few days of daily use. Redness and irritation typically settle within one to two weeks of consistent morning and night application. Oil control and pore refinement show visible improvement from week three onwards.
